Smart riders wear Snell approved helmets
Whether you are a professional race car driver or a simple weekend motorcycle rider like myself, you owe it to yourself to wear good head protection. After all part of the whole riding/driving experience is telling your buddies about it later.
Snell motorcycle helmets have been a part of my riding adventures for many years. While I have not yet had to personally test their strength and integrity their reputation is top notch. Snell approved motorcycle helmets have set the bar for others to follow.
NASCAR, AMA, American Powerboat Association, NHRA and many more top racing organizations depend on Snell approved helmets to keep their drivers safe. Hey, if these guys trust them you and I certainly can. A crash is a crash no matter if you are Richard Petty or plain ole’ Joe Brown that lives next door. No one plans to crash but it is always a possibility.
Styles of Snell approved motorcycle helmets vary from open face style to the full face style. Personally I like them both. I like the open face for the warmer months and the full face for the cold months. One word of caution for you open face riders…use proper eye protection. Many riders don’t care much for a windshield on their bike because they like the wind in their face. Well that’s all fine and good, but a bug in the eye is not cool.
When I first started riding years ago helmets were kind of plain and mostly came in solid colors. Red, blue, black and white were pretty much all the choices you had back then. Now days the helmets themselves look like great works of art. The helmet a rider wears often says as much about him or her as the bike he or she rides. They definitely do make a statement.
If you’ve been riding with the same helmet for a number of years maybe it’s time for a new one. Check and see if your helmet shows any sign of wear that comes with age, if it does you seriously might want to consider a newer more safer one. If you have any doubt at all I would replace it immediately…better safe than sorry.
